Improv at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014

The podcast will be taking a short break during August because the Edinburgh Fringe has descended and most Scottish improvisers are out performing or watching international improvisers all month! To that end I have compiled a list of every improv show I could find and present it to you below!

12 - Exquisite Smelling Legs

For this episode Mark Craig is joined by Paul Connolly, Eric Geistfeld and Tom Pennock - under their own free will and with absolutely no violent coercion - in order to bring you silly games and made-up scenes! They show off their impeccable geography skills regarding New Brunswick, Switzerland and San Mantino, talk to a real life Edinburgh tram and then specifically don't do a scene about squirrels!

11 - King Raccoon

Praise be to Wall! In this episode Mark Craig can barely control the hilarious antics of Pint and a Half - the duo made up of Sam Irving and Will Naameh - as they perform silly made-up scenes and push the boundaries of what is considered comically decent! Listen in wonder as they delve into the seedy rivalries of lycanthrope soap-stars, remark on the prominence of facial hair in Greek mythology and discover the real reason George R. R. Martin is taking so long to finish the Song of Ice and Fire series!

10 - Drowned Charizard

Another bonus episode made up of unused gold from previous recordings this week as Mark Craig is joined by countless improvisers for fun and games around a microphone! The Queen wins an Emmy and then gets lost at a doctor's, we have yet another mention of three time Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis and we finish on a frankly obscene game set in a Debenhams!

9 - A Few Strange Lumps

We dedicate this episode of the Improv Scotland Podcast to our greatest fans as Mark Craig is joined by their son Paul Connolly and their nemesis Tom Pennock to delight and infuriate them in equal measure! This week we amuse ourselves (and you) by singing a song to the King of the Sea, discussing the Meatball Universe Theory and we may also just save your life and/or wife!

8 - Sponge Juice

In honour of his birthday Mark Craig is joined by Paul Connolly and Nicola Dove for some celebratory silliness and improvised scenes on the latest Improv Scotland Podcast! They mark the occasion by solving a seemingly impossible murder, shamelessly promoting Dyson hoovers and standing idly by as our Man on the Street starts to lose his mind!

7 - Kitten Button

The Improv Scotland Podcast goes back to school in this episode as Mark Craig is joined by David Devereux, Kat McKnight and David Pellow  in a very warm room of Stirling University's library for some improvised silliness! We meet Barack Obama's maid and an unfortunately named man in a trenchcoat, make at least one Les Mis joke and get Yo-Bang'd by Ashton Kutcher from the past!

6 - What Is Windows?

We're not afraid to ask the big questions on the Improv Scotland Podcast as Nicola Dove, Tom Pennock and Sarah Whillier provide Mark Craig with improvised and silly answers/scenes in this episode! They teach us about libraries and grapes, catch a plane to Barbados from an unusual location and discover that the Pope has the ability to teleport!

5 - Hot Soapy Bath

 It's a special episode of the Improv Scotland Podcast this week, comprising of unheard scenes and games from previous shows and a 'pilot' recording we did before the first episode! The same kinds of silliness abound, though, as yet another Oscar winner is mentioned, we learn the origins of the Italian Batman and I inexplicably turn into a robot!

4 - Super Chocolate Double Surprise

This delicious and nut-free episode of the Improv Scotland Podcast features a whole bunch of whoopin' and hollerin', as Mark Craig is joined by Eric Geistfeld and Will Naameh for some good ol' times with improv! They tackle the big issues of equal marriage, found a terrifying new religion on a Scottish island and do some spookily accurate impersonations of much-loved historical figures and actors!

3 - Dankze Kandlez

This episode of the Improv Scotland Podcast comes to you from the Glasgow international Comedy festival, where Mark Craig is joined by Elsie Ashworth and Cameron Davis for some made-up silliness! They discuss the practicalities of international bridges, comment on the state of drugs in football and are interrupted by a very loud aircraft!

2 - Ethical Pickle

In this episode of the Improv Scotland Podcast Mark Craig is joined by Paul Connolly, Amy Currie and Sam Irving in a DIFFERENT echo-y room where they improvise around a microphone and laugh an awful lot! They say "Qapla'" to some Klingons, swear in Australian accents and then sing a hearty song about dismembering starfish!

In the first ever Improv Scotland Podcast,  Mark Craig is joined by Nicola Dove and Kat McKnight in an incredibly echo-y room where they play silly games and perform scenes made up on the spot! They find interesting uses for lamp-shades, show off their Game of Thrones knowledge and are almost joined by a multiple Oscar-winner!
